Just Taking Care of Business

Vision without work is daydreaming.
Work without vision is drudgery.
Vision, coupled with work will ensure your success.

Tumble outta bed and we stumble to the kitchen
Pour ourselves a cup or bowl of ambition
And yawnin', stretchin', trying to come to life
Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin'
Out on the streets, the traffic starts jumpin'
With folks like us on the job from 8 to ?

First stop, pick up "homework" from the Mission Home every morning.

Next stop, the Mission Office to take care of administrative needs.

Newly arrived Elder Terry and his trainer, Elder Robert, assigned to the Bumby Haitian Ward in the office for orientation.

Before hitting the road to assist in the "temporal" needs of the mission it's Polar Pop time.

Whether it's dropping off a vehicle for needed repair,

loading up a bed or replacing a broken chair,

shipping home a bike or even picking up one there.

It's what we do.

It's raining and pouring, (it's Florida) but we have a friend in the Poinciana Branch who is in the hospital so neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

Seen on the side of the road as we cruise on by...

Sister Dane's and Sister Vaden scheduled to depart
for Kuna, Idaho and St. George, UT (home) this coming weekend
after serving their 12 month mission with honor!

Our Senior Missionary District at a farewell dinner for the Sister's
at Long John Silver's in Sanford.

Elder Vaughan and Elder Fuller one evening at Walgreen's.
We discovered that it was actually Elder Vaughan's birthday that day
so we offered to take them out for ice cream to celebrate.
But it was late and they needed to get home so they opted for chips and Gatorade instead-obedient with exactness!

Just out and about signing renewal leases in Clermont and look who we ran into?
Elder Weston Gale from Sacramento, as well as his companion, Elder Jacobsen and the Minneola Elders, Steed and Hilton.

Winter Garden Sister's Taylor, Johnston and Salvesen.
We set up this trio a few weeks ago and now
Sister Salvesen was to be re-assigned to the Hunter's Creek area.
So we came to move her bed, her personal belongs and of course Sister Salvesen.

Long story short, the Poinciana Sister missionaries need to move :(
Florida realtors are of no help, and rental properties are few and far between.
So after doing some research online it's pull out the GPS and start looking.
This house is actually under consideration if you can believe it.

Saturday the Poinciana Branch had a Branch Activity/Farewell Party
for a few of our members who will be departing soon.
Brian Rodriguez will be attending the single adult ward, the Baum and the Blan families sold their house and will be moving to Utah
and the Howse family will be moving back to Utah.

Adria and Jody Howse, from Orem, Utah, have been here in Florida for two years to establish a business and now are headed back home. Adria is our Primary President and Jody is our Young Men's President. They have 4 wonderful kids and Elder Busath is especially fond of their youngest, Emmett.
He is a busy boy and reminds us very much of one of our own grandchildren back home. We seriously do not know what the Branch is going to do without them!

Where did the week go?  I guess it's true, time flies, when you're  having fun :)

And we been takin' care of business every day
Takin' care of business every way
We've been takin' care of business, it's all fine
Takin' care of business and working overtime...

Have a great week!!!

See you later, alligator...

God Bless America

The Lord gave a divine promise to the ancient inhabitants of this favored country
(the United States):  "Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ" (Ether 2:12)

The Assistants to the Mission President, Elders Patten, Flood and Reay,
Monday, June 30th.
On Wednesday, July 2nd Elder Reay departed for his home in Canada after serving valiantly here in the USA for two years!

A popular pest control company here in Florida waiting at the airport for...
vacationing pests?  Note the tail mouse and ears, definitely a Disney influence.

On Monday evening, June 30th, eighteen new missionaries arrived at the airport in Orlando, Florida from the Mission Training Center in Provo, Utah.

Please welcome the newest missionaries to the Florida Orlando Mission.

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you!
Elder Gordon and Elder Busath led the discussion Monday evening following dinner in an attempt to break the ice and to keep these poor missionaries awake.
They had been up since 4:00 am Utah time and it was now 8:00 pm Florida time ZzZ.

Tuesday morning began bright and early with an mission overview presented by the office staff followed by additional Florida Orlando Mission specific training with their "trainers".

The Assistants having a little fun following the arrivals and the transfers.

While out and about taking care of mission business later in the week Elder Gordon and Elder Busath had the opportunity to pick up some furniture generously donated.  Long story short, we are always in need of study chairs for the young missionaries so I have been on the look out for just the right table and chairs to replace the table and chairs we currently have in our apartment so that we can redistribute our old chairs (with wheels) where needed.
Eureka they found it!

Before the day was over our old table and chairs were quickly loaded in the trailer ready for a short trip to Uncle Bob's Storage and our new table and chairs were assembled, polished and ready to be put into service.

Elder Busath and Elder Gordon also returned from their adventures that day with a beautiful couch that had been used in the youth center at the temple.  After some discussion it was decided that the new couch would make a nice addition in the Gordon's apartment.  It was late and we were tired, but were on a roll. So after a short text asking for assistance we were rescued by two more (muscled) men in white shirts and ties by the names Elder Stewart and Elder Delgado.  They slowly loaded the worn and very HEAVY sleeper sofa that used to be in the Gordon's apartment on to a dolly and carefully wheeled it around the corner and down the sidewalk to Elder and Sister Bean's apartment in preparation of their family coming to visit in the future.
Then they moved the new sofa in to the Gordon's apartment and it was just right!

Just a few of our friends who got into the patriotic spirit!

Sister Missionaries, Allison and Moffitt.

After a long and very busy day in the office the Gordon's agreed to accompany us as we  ventured out that evening to see how the "natives" here in Florida celebrate the 4th of July.  Pictured above is a park in the town of Kissimmee where our missionaries set up a booth in an effort to educate the public on who were are while they waited for the fireworks by the lake to begin.

Following a brief tour of the park in Kissimmee we were anxious to get out of the heat and humidity and decided to hop back in the air conditioned car and head over to the little town of Celebration and check out the festivities there.

Guess who we ran into when we arrived?
A few of our Senior Missionary District, the Western's and the Johnson's preparing to be
ooohed and ahhhed by the fireworks.

The theme of the evening was science fiction and the music that accompanied the fireworks focused on popular sci-fi movie theme songs, like; Ghost Busters, Star Wars, Star Trek, A Space Odyssey...

 oooh

  ahhh

Celebration, Florida

It was another exciting week here in the mission field
and we feel blessed to have been a part of it!

In closing we just wanted to leave you with the words to a popular song that pretty much sums up our feelings as we celebrate our country's independence:

I'm proud to be an American,
Where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
Who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up,
Next to you and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

Hope you have a blast this coming week!  See you later, alligator...
