November 27, 2016 The True Meaning of Character

"Perhaps the word "character" best describes one who is true to himself.  For character takes no account of what you are thought to be, but what you are.  Character is having an inner light and the courage to follow its dictates.

One who is true to himself develops the attributes needed to survive errors, to keep marching on a road that seems to be without end, and to rise above disappointments and distress."
Thomas S. Monson

I recently discovered that not only am I directionally impaired, but I am sadly technology challenged as well. As a result I was unable to post on our blog recently due to a computer glitch and decided that maybe it was meant to be. (No one but me really benefited from our postings anyway.) Yet to be true to myself and to accomplish what I had originally set out to do (to share our missionary experiences with interested family and friends) I needed to rise above disappointments and distress.

It's a small world after all!
I recently discovered that Sister Renee Keller, co-coordinator for the Idaho Boise Service Missionaries, was actually a good friend of Margaret Pratt Gordon one of my best friends forever.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

The Idaho Boise Mission received our first order of 25,000 additional light the world pass-along cards to share. Unfortunately the cards were not bundled so we had to separate them into equal portions of 25 to provide for all 25 Stake Presidencies in our mission who had requested them to share in  their communities.

LIGHTtheWORLD
Since a new star first appeared above Bethlehem, Christmas has been a season of light, reminding us that Jesus Christ is the light of the world. Together, we can celebrate His birth by making the world a brighter place. All we have to do is follow Him—His life, His example, and His teachings. In doing so, we can help #LIGHTtheWORLD.

Please join us by checking out www.mormon.org beginning December 1st to discover ways that you and your family can commit to one kind act a day throughout the month of December.  The kind acts include feeding the hungry, helping the sick, ministering to children, and clothing those in need. An advent calendar will be posted each day to help you get started.
Wishing you a great week!
