February 28, 2017 Choose to Find Joy

"Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom".
1 Kings 10:8
Sorry for the delay in blog posts...we've been busy :)
We had the opportunity to travel to Sacramento recently to celebrate the birth of grand daughter, Lily Echo Bacchus, and the Aaronic Priesthood ordination of grandson, Mason Scott Gibson.

A proud Grandpa and Grandma. It really doesn't get much better than this!

Welcome Lily Echo Bacchus
The Saturday we were in California Grandpa took the crew to Apple Hill for apple donuts while Grandma stayed behind with daughter, Tracy, to help give Lily her first bath.
Thomas and William buried Grandpa underneath every pillow that they could find. Fortunately he escaped unharmed and they had to help wash the truck.

On Sunday, February 5, 2017 Mason Scott Gibson received the Aaronic Priesthood and was ordained a Deacon by his Grandpa Busath.

When we returned we had three missionary homes to close
and two sets of missionaries to relocate.
Thank goodness for these Elders who are always willing and able to lend a hand!
The Elders in Wendell found a new home!

 On the road again...
Last Friday, we stopped to drop off furniture in Wendell, fixed a dryer in Burley, and then purchased essentials for the Wendell Elders new home.  The next day we moved the Raft River Elders to Malta, the Malta Elders to Albion and stopped by Wendell to drop off their essentials.

What is it about "have your stuff packed and the place clean before we arrive"
that they don't seem to understand?
On Monday we moved the Wendell Elders, thanks to these Super Heroes.
A new home for the Sister Missionaries in Meridian and a load to take to Deseret Industries that we had accumulated from all of our moves.
It's been another crazy week at the Mission and we don't see it slowing down anytime soon. Transfers are March 1st and housing still has to be found and missionaries moved.
A special shout out and Congratulations to Patrick, my nephew,
his beautiful wife and their two sweet little daughter's!
Word on the grapevine was that he and his wife were recently married and my daughter, Tracy, discovered it on Facebook.

"We all know people who seem to"roll with the punches", who are pleasant and cheerful through almost any challenge. Generally these are the people with who we like to spend our time, for they make us feel better about circumstances and about our selves.  It seems that good things gravitate to them, for they don't let less than ideal circumstances stand in their way.  They choose to find joy everywhere and to leave it behind them when they go."

Thomas S. Monson

Our goal is to become one of "those roll with the punches people".
To choose to be happy, to find joy, and not let the small stuff get us down.
It's a choice and we know can do hard things!

Make it a great week!

January 28, 2017 Missionaries teach the doctrine of Christ

 January Missionary Leadership Council

Wednesday and Thursday, January 25th and 26th, the Idaho Boise Missionaries were privileged to attend Zone Conference where we received inspired instruction by viewing a Special Missionary Worldwide Broadcast focusing on teaching the doctrines of Christ.

Speak of the Savior. Testify of Him. Speak of His doctrine, of faith in Him and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.” —
Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Some changes were announced to help our missionaries become more effective.

How do you feed 100+ hungry missionaries two days in a row? Costco pizza of course!
“That doctrine of Christ is summarized in words that you all know very well:
Our purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.”

and left the old one sparkling clean and very much appreciated!

Meridian Idaho Temple

It was announced this week that the free public open house for the Meridian Idaho Temple will begin on Saturday, October 21, and continue through November 11, 2017, except for the Sundays of October 22 and 29 and November 5.
The cultural celebration will be held Saturday, November 18. The temple will be dedicated the following day on Sunday, November 19, in three sessions at 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The dedication will be broadcast to members of the Church in Idaho and the temple district. The three-hour block of meetings will be cancelled for that Sunday for those congregations to enable members of the Church to participate and focus on this sacred event.
The Meridian Idaho Temple was announced by Church President Thomas S. Monson at the Church’s April 2011 general conference. There are currently three operating temples in Idaho, in Boise, Rexburg and Twin Falls. The Idaho Falls Temple is currently being renovated and will open to the public to visit and tour this April before it is rededicated June 4. There are about 426,000 Latter-day Saints in Idaho.
The temple is located at 7345 North Linder Road, a few blocks north of the intersection of North Linder Road and Chinden Blvd.
Ground was broken for the temple August 23, 2014

So in closing, allow us to quote a favorite hymn that pretty much sums up our feelings-

Because we have been blessed by thy great love, dear Lord
we'll share thy love again, according to thy word.
We shall give love to those in need;
We'll share thy love by word and deed;
thus shall our thanks be thanks indeed.

Have a great week!

January 21, 2017 Four Pledges for the New Year

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, even as you desire of me so it shall be done unto you; and if you desire, you shall be the means of doing much good in this generation."
Doctrine and Covenants 11:8

"Four pledges for the new year: I will listen, I will learn, I will labor, I will love.  As we fulfill these pledges, we can have the guidance of our Heavenly Father and in our lives discover true joy. Now, I don't simply mean that we should make a wish, or that we should dream a dream, but rather determine to do that which we pledge to accomplish."
Thomas S. Monson

On the Home front

Sorry, it has been a crazy week with 4 departing missionaries, 15 new                                arrivals and transfers so we don't have any grandchildren pictures to                                  share.

However, we do need to recognize a very special person in our lives at                              this time.

Dorothy Holbrook Busath, better known as "GG" had some serious health challenges in the past few days and we are happy to report that things are finally looking better.            (The Lord truly does hear and answer prayers).
She has always been our biggest fan so it seems only fitting that we take a moment to express our love and appreciation.
